The first course of action taken by MSM is to address the risk and to undertake a risk assessment. This should include a review of the systems in place, the installation and whether there are items which could be improved to reduce risk, and checking how appropriate the maintenance procedures are.
In conjunction with the client MSM would then produce system schematics and operation and maintenance procedures where required.
Part of the risk assessment produced by MSM identifies and records a clear structure of responsibility for implimenting and reviewing procedures to manage the risk assosiated with legionella in the builiding’s systems.
A site logbook is then produced and completed to aid risk management and record the procedures in place.
All staff responsible for maintaince of relevent systems need to be suitably trained or instructed how to minimise the risk of legionella growth and any precautions necessary when maintaining particular systems. This training can be carried out by MSM’s staff.
A structured programme of maintaince testing, inspection and disinfection is then set in place.
